Librarian, Head of Reference Services, Tuscaloosa Public Library, Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Tuscaloosa Public Library is seeking a Librarian, Head of Reference Services. Position supervises 10 staff and serves under the Assistant Director for Public Services. Successful candidate will help take our reference services to the next level and is interested in being a key member in a progressive, dynamic library system. Must be a creative, enthusiastic team player with excellent organizational and managerial skills and dedication to excellent customer service.

Tuscaloosa offers a wide range of recreational activities; from fishing and hunting to collegiate athletics including gymnastics, basketball, baseball and of course, football. Centrally located in Alabama, It's an easy drive to larger metropolitan areas and the Gulf Coast.
Prefer experience with multiple aspects of library operations such as, collection management, program implementation, III and Innovative Interfaces or similar library automation system. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to coach and mentor staff are also needed. Requires a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.
Requires a minimum of three years professional library experience preferably in a public library and an additional 2 years supervisory experience. Additional skills required are knowledge of and experience with Internet search tools, online reference sources, Microsoft Windows and Office applications and new, related technologies. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in customer service excellence and the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, customers and the community.
